Help with excel vba

Hi all

Im looking for a way to use excel vba to lookup something.
what i have is a huge list of full names and abreviations.
I want to be able to type the full name and get the abreviation.

ABOUT ABT
ABOVE ABV
ABOVE FREEZING LAYER AFL
ABOVE GROUND AG
ABOVE GROUND LEVEL AGL


These are just some of them there are about 1700 names and abreviations.

any help apriciated.

If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
Why do you need VBA? You should be able to use the VLOOKUP function. Just set up your table and access it using the VLOOKUP function (see Excel's help on VLOOKUP for details).

I still think you want to set up a table in Excel and have your User Form do a VLOOKUP into that table. I can't imagine writing VBA code to check 1700 conditions (names).
