I am sure this is an easy question, but I am really struggling. I will have a date (1/6/2006) in cell C11. I need the formula in cell D18 to multiply the number in d17 by .445 if c11 is greater than 1/6/2006 or to multiply by .485 if the date is less than 1/5/2006

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK

Try =IF(C11>38723,D17*0.455,D17*0.485)

or Try =IF(C11>=38723,D17*0.455,D17*0.485

This one doesn't work. I copied and pasted it even. It just returns D17*.485 regardless of the date in C11.

I appreciate the help, though. Any others?

It works fine on mine :confused:

I take it you are using American dates, not British ones?

This one is the best to use if you want to include 1/6/06
=IF(C11>=38723,D17*0.455,D17*0.485)

Correct, am using American dates. I have been researching this until I am nearly blue in the face. I just cannot imagine why it doesn't work.

Not sure what I did different, but after playing with the date in general format, I did get the formula to work properly. I cannot thank you enough!!!!
