I run a football (soccer) league which is kept upto date using Excel. What I would like to do is have a column showing what position a team has moved from. For eg:
Team A last week were in 4th position. This week they have moved down to 7th.
Column B will show all positions in order 1 through to 10
I would like column A to show last weeks position for each team.
Any ideas???

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
So do you maintain a list somewhere in this workbook showing what position the team was in each week, or does historical position data get 'lost' every week there is a new set of results to record? Where do you record the results? Do you have each week's results and are they listed sequentially?

League Table Help

To be honest, it is a very simple worksheet. The points are manually entered then I do a sort to put them in order.
The historical data get lost every week although if there is a way to record the weekly positions I could have a use for this information.

I think you'd be best advised to record each team's results on a weekly basis and then use this data to build the League table. Then you have full history and can go back to a specific week's results/League positions if required. Doesn't have to be anything fance, even just having the week number and Win/Loss/Draw against team name should suffice.
