Hello.

I need to lock the data of a column without protecting the sheet.
the column contains formulas that add other cells.

but i need to be able to change colour etc to all other area's of the sheet.
is this possible?

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)

If your Column to be protected is on the Right end, then adjusting the scroll area might help you.
For playing with links, try Edit>Links.
