Folks,

I have made a list of 9 columns. I have about 400 cells of data and want to create a shortcut that allows somebody to automatically send the contents of a cell to one of the 9 columns as they choose. something like Control + 8 to send the text of a selected cell to column 8 in list form.

Help? Thanks!

Ahh, a Mac... I'm reasonably sure there's a vb editor in there somewhere but I have no idea how to access it (or anything else on a Mac.) Never used one myself. (But I do really like my daughter's!)

Either way, I understand there are coding differences between a Mac & PC so the code I posted probably wouldn't work for you anyway.

You might get better results if you start a new thread and include a reference to using a Mac in the title. (Sorry I can't help.)

Good luck.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
FWIW there is no VBA in Excel 2008 for Mac. So, I cannot think of a way of doing what you want, sorry.

Peter, you serious???
What does it use then, something like MicroSoft Works?
(Which in my opinion doesn't, but then who am I?)

100% serious. M$ in its wisdom decided that Mac users didn't require VBA. My understanding is that it is to be included in the next version of Excel for Mac.

HA! I knew there was a reason I've been 'a PC' for all these years.
I hope you're right about future versions as I've considered 'becoming a Mac' at some point.
(I don't think Excel without vba would be any fun at all but that's only because I suck at formulas...)

A couple computers ago I bought one without the Office suite loaded on it because I already had it. Dang near pulled my hair out trying to find vba until I finally realized it wasn't Excel but was Microsoft Works and loaded Office onto the machine.
