Help with Table references

Hi,

Hopefully someone can help me here?

In 2010 I have a table with departments names as column headers and the first column contains week numbers.

Is it possible to to cross reference the date using [department name] and [week number]?

So a formula may be =£450/[department wage 1][wk2].

This would divide £450 by the wages for wk1 in department 1?

I know cells can be cross referenced using INDEX & MATCH but the formulas are long and difficult to read - any ideas?

a perfect example for VLOOKUP I would think:

=450/VLOOKUP(Wk2,TableAddress,MATCH(Department,HeaderAddress))
