Help with taking number or letters from the right side

Here it is (A, Mia - 74096) I need to take off (- 74096) so all I will have is (A, Mia)

What am I doing wrong excel does not see it, When I try to do a countifs it does not see it. If I hardcode it excel will see it.

There was an additional space at the end. Change the formula to this.

=left(A1,find("-",A1)-2)
