Should PivotTables that are created with PowerPivot using only Linked Tables from the workbook be considered OLAP PivotTables?

Some reasons to say "Yes":
Reasons to say "No":
  • There's no Data Warehouse nor anything "Online" about a PivotTable that has only linked tables within the same workbook as its data source.

I would vote yes.

It doesn't really matter where the data comes from (a relational db, a csv file, linked table, copy-paste, ...) --- the result is the same: Power Pivot builds a cube.

there is literally a cube stored in the xlsx file. It could be restored straight onto an analysis server. It can be queries via mdx.
