Im am completely stuck, attempting to set print area based to only the cells with data in them.

Try:

Dim LastRow As Long
Dim LastColumn As Integer
LastRow = ActiveSheet.Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row
LastColumn = ActiveSheet.Range("IV1").End(xlToLeft).Column
ActiveSheet.PageSetup.PrintArea = "A1:" & Cells(LastRow, LastColumn).Address

Or,

ActiveSheet.PageSetup.PrintArea = "A1:" & [A1].SpecialCells(xlCellTypeLastCell).Address

But, realize that, in the latter, the "last cell" does not update until you exit Excel...
