Hi,

I need a formula to get the month name from date and time for example - ("Aug 25th, 2010 08:48 AM").

When i try =text(A1,"mmmm") it gives the whole date and time together...Is there a way to solve this and get the name of the month only???

Thanks Pedie.

Any suggestion would be great and highly appriciated...;)

I have tried this too but won't give the month name only...The result is the date and time.

Oh i think it is because the format is "Sep 28th, 2010 09:05 PM" this way.
Could be funny for you but I have pulled all my thread here in Mrexcel and trying to get the month in 1 col so that I can filter and check month wise...

Now i will need something to get the month from 'Sep 28th, 2010 09:05 PM' format ( this is in general format and even if i change the format to date it doesnt change.....). May be trim/ something....;)

Thanks again Mike

Looks like you have a text entry instead of a date & time format.

Try this,

=LEFT(A1,3)
