Hidden Columns

Perhaps this is an easy question...

I have a worksheet I want to share with coworkers, but I want to hide cells and not give them access (to view or edit) to these hidden cells.

They would need the ability to edit the "unhidden" cells.

Any ideas?

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
I find it is best then to not even have the data in there, as even if you hide and protect it, they could still see the value in them, indirectly.

For example, let's say that you have a value in cell Z1 that you have protected and unhidden and lock it down so they cannot unhide it. All the have to do is enter:
=Z1
in any other cell in order to see what the value is in Z1.

Maybe someone has some cool way of preventing this, but I do not know of it. I would recommend giving them a copy of your sheet without the data you do not want them to see.

Joe -

Very, very good point. Thank you for bringing this up...

I will reevaluate the way I hide this data.

Thanks again,

-Jeff
