I have a sheet called 'remain', starting in A3 and going downward, there are dates, starting in 2004 and going into next year, I would simply like to hide each row that doesn't have a date in column A (A3 and below) in the current year.
So 8/4/2008 gets hidden, while
7/5/2009 stays visible etc etc

Thank You.

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).

Try

Code:
Sub test()
Dim LR As Long, i As Long
With Sheets("remain")
    LR = .Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
    For i = 3 To LR
        .Rows(i).Hidden = Year(.Range("A" & i).Value) <> Year(Date)
    Next i
End With
End Sub
