Highlight cell if value higher

Hi,

I'm trying to compare two columns. When the value in column 2 is higher than in column 1, I highlight the cell.

I've selected my first cell (let's say B1) and went to Conditional Formating > Highlight Cell > Greater Than and selected my first cell from my first column (A1).

Now, I need to 'duplicate' this rule for the remaining rows. If I drag B1 through column 2, it only compre the values with the first cell from the first column A1.

I can't manage to find an easy way to compare A1 with B1, A2 with B2, etc.

Any idea?

If you have a whole range of cells to apply Conditional Formatting to, I usually find the best way is to select the whole range first, then set-up the Conditional Formatting rule as it applies to the first cell in your selected range. The other cells should adjust automatically.

I usually use the Formula option, just because I know I have a lot of flexibility and can make it do what I want.
For any column or row reference that you want to not "float" or change for the other cells, you put a $ sign in front of it to lock that part of the range.

1) select B1:B100
2) go to Conditional Formating---new rules(my language is not english, maybe this is not the exact descreption)---use formula to.....(the last one in the list)
3) enter =B1>A1 in the textbox below
4) Click the Format button, in the last tab, select a color you like.
