hi,

i'm trying to rule out some rows that contain characters such as.
?
!
=
each row contains links like http://website.com/something
some of the rows contain links such as http://website.com/something?stuff?=stuff (this is the kind of rows i need excel to highlight based on the question mark sign)

issue is that if i go with the cond .format. and choose highlight specified text, where i would enetr the question mark: ? , excel would highlight all the rows, even if they don't have the question mark in them.

to be more precise, excel doesn't seem to consider the punctuation marks when highlighting celss based on just that.

i'm using excel 2007. any ideeas how to highlight cells that contain such characters ?

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
Assuming your data is in column A, highlight column A and use the following conditional format:

=ISNUMBER(FIND("?",A1))

Try this
• Select the range of cells to be impacted
• Home.Conditional_Formatting...New_rule
...Check: Format only cells that contain
...Format only cells with: Specific Text...Containing...~?
...Click: Format...select a highlight color....Click: OK
...Click: OK

The tilde (~) causes the question mark to be used literally, not as a wildcard.

Does that help?
