can I get a cell to highlight red on sheet 1 , if I type in the same number which is on a selected list on sheet 2

ie : if I type in CAR205 in the cell on sheet 1 and the list is from CAR201 - CAR250 on sheet 2 , the cell on sheet 1 will go red.

any other numbers typed in , say CAR199 , cell will not turn red

please help, any thing will be much appreciated,

Create a CF rule with this formula:

=COUNTIF(Sheet2!$A$1:$A$18,A1)<>0

Adjust the array to encompass your entire list. Add the formatting you require. Apply this rule to the range (starting in A1 on sheet 1) that you need it to affect.

If you can't get it to work this time, then give us a link to the workbook via DropBox or similar.

No, sorry - no E-mail correspondence allowed (rule #4). Please provide a link to the file via DropBox or similar. It is clear from this and the other thread that you are making a fundamental mistake somewhere, but without seeing the file, it's hard to say where.

Unless you want an inbox full of SPAM, I would remove your E-mail address from your post.

The formula is in the conditional formatting dialog. Select the first cell in the range and then look at the rule.
