highlighting columns

if I want a particular cell to highlight if left blank when another cell in the same column has a particular word in it, what is the formula to do?

in conditional formatting
=and(blankcell_reference="",othercell_reference="particular word")

i tried it but it wound up slowing the computer down attempting to figure out the equation.

for example, if in column j, i want this to highlight if in column b does have the said word in it what formula would i use?

Click on Column J - Goto Home - Conditional Format - New Rule - Use formula to determine which cells to format
Formula is =B1="Test" (Where Test is the word you are using)
OK
double check the formula is not encased with talking marks. Apply.

The formula works out great, but how would I change it to make it to where when information is put into the cell, it would clear out the highlight?
