I'm building a spreadsheet to track home expenses and want to keep a running total. In column D I have the expense, in column E I am subtracting the amount from D and placing it in column F. I would ask for a method to transfer the number from column F to column E so I don't have to copy/paste the numbers every time. Is it a move function? I can't make sense of threads I search on google.

This is what I have. I want to transpose/move the number in column F (balance) to column E (sub total) where I have a formula to subtract column D from column E and place it in column F. This will make it so I can input a number in column D and automatically do the math and place the result of the figure in column F into column E.
