Hou to use a formula in a math equation

=IF(E2 < 8,33,"")
I want to replace the "33" in the above formula with another formula like =(F2 - 8). I tried this:
=IF(E2 < 8,=(F2-8) ,""). Obviously that didn't work. Can anyone help me out with the correct syntax? I'd be very grateful.

You would not need the equal sign within the formula

So
Excel Formula:
=IF(E2< 8,F2-8,"")
