Hello

Im needing to do the following

keep a running totla of hours that a piece of industrial equipment has run.
E.g.

hours:mins run today 2:40

total Hours:mins run 11263:30 <<<<<(the current total is in excess of 11000 hours)

I need to input daily hours so it updates totals hours then delete daily hours but leave total hours rerady for next day. hope that makes sense

Cheers

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
Ok tried that, works fine with normal hours ie 02:30 + 04:20 but when try 02:30 + 12435:20 it dont like it??

Any entry over 9999:59 is taken to be text instead of time, when done as a cell entry. Sums of time can go way higher than that.

So ( if I'm right ), do a cell entry of =500+"453:20" and you'll be able to add to it. ( 500 = 500 days = 500 * 24 hours = 12000 hours )

Ok seems to work.

Next Q lol.

After input I want to delete the daily hours but leave the total hours uddated ready for the next daily input?
Cheers

Not knowing your layout I am only guessing here ... copy the summed result, and paste over the running total cell using Paste Special / Values, and then delete the daily hours.

I wouldn't be happy about such an arrangement in my workbooks ... I would want checking to make sure all entries were being processed, and that no entries were being processed more than once.
