In a worksheet I use a column of cells to put in data which could be text or numbers or cell filled with a colour in other words anything placed in these cells
at the bottom of the column I wish to have a total number for entries placed in these cells

Please can anyone help I'm new to excel

Excel Facts

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
If you're just starting to use Excel, don't regard color as data.

To count the number of cells containing numbers or text,

=counta(a:a)
