I have a sheet 1 called spec general and at b6 there is a product identity called Hot chocolate. I need to capture this name on sheet 2.

When I use = spec general ! b6 excel tries to correct it and opens it a folder dilog called "Update"

I was assuming my spacing was off or that I had to use " spec general" rather than simply spec general but no luck

If I try the same concept with the sheet named sheet1 , Eureka it works, go figure.

I know I am messing up but not sure where.

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
Try ='spec general'!B6 . The sheet name has a space between spec and general so you have to use single quotation marks.
