Hi,
I have a spreadsheet which lists a number of salespeople's names, ID numbers, etc. which is used a reference tool for data I have which has salespeople's names on it. In the data, the names sometimes come through with a different version of their first name (but is still for the same person) which might be a slightly different spelling or might be Cathy in the data, but Catherine in the spreadsheet. In some cases I have different people with the same surname but a completely different first name. I have experimented with using the XLOOKUP on the surname earlier which then highlighted the issue about it returning the first name it finds with a matching surname, but not the person I want it to be.
Is there a way using the wildcard function perhaps that I can overcome these issues to return the ID number for the correct person based on the name that has come through in the data versus my "master spreadsheet" of employee details?
