I tried recording a macro of me doing it manually but that didn't point me at the right setting.

All i want to do is set the font to size to 8 for the footer.

Please help

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
You will find that VBA doesn't make it easy to work with headers and footers. You can do it using some fancy text strings, like this:
Code:
ActiveSheet.PageSetup.CenterHeader = _
        &""Times New Roman,Bold Italic""&11XYZ Corp."
This inserts the text XYZ Corp as bold italic, 11 pt Times New Roman in teh center header. Play with the syntax to get the result you need.
