How do i define variables in Excel 2013?

I want to define variables to calculate something so like lets say

A = 3
B = 5
C = 8

I want to use A + B and have it equal 8 in the column.
How do I define those variables?

In Excel or VBA?

In Excel, enter the values into cells, and then simply use the cell references in your formula. For example:Enter 3 into A1, 5 into A2. Then in B1 enter =A1+A2. Press Enter.

In VBA:

Dim A, B, C As Integer
A = 3
B = 5
C = A + B 
Range("A1").Value = C

What I did was name each cell something specific, one cell is called Height, and the other is called Length. What I want to do is multiply them so I did Height * Length, but it doesn't display a value. It just has what I typed in.
