How do I exclude symbols in conditional formating

Hi, I am a complete excel novice so sorry if the solution is obvious. I am trying to apply conditional formatting t o highlight values greater than 10 and I have a cell reading <0.5 that keeps being highlighted. It is important I have the less than sign, so I was wondering how to exclude specifically cells with this symbol. As well, cells with - are also read as greater than 10. Thanks .
