Hi,

I have a client who receives a fax containing order information by e-mail. They then print out the fax and enter the order-information into an Excel spreadsheet. Recently, the entry-prerson was having a bad day and entered the wrong values in each column. Isn't small business exciting?

How can I extract the text information (quantities, prices, check numbers, etc.) from the JPG file (into ASCII, CSV or whatever format is best) so that it may be loaded into a workbook and then cell-referenced to the proper columns? Thanks, as always

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
AFAIK, there is no way to do this with Excel. There are, however, other programs out there that might do the trick. If it is only that information, you may want to do a search for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) or check out the OmniPage suite.
