What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Use a line of code like this:

VBA Code:
Application.StatusBar = "My message here"

and to reset it back to normal:

VBA Code:
Application.StatusBar = False
