I have hundreds of entries in a column (H) which are work order numbers that have two pipe bars in them. I would like to remove the pipe bars all at once and insert a hyphen.

It looks like this: 12345678|0010|

I need it to look like this: 12345678-0010

Is there a "format cell" custom I can make?? or a control H replace option???.. or would it require a formula?

not all entries start with eight numbers before the first bar..some start with seven...but i only need to work with the ones that start with eight numbers.

Can someone please help me out?

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
How about
