How do I turn off those annoying little yellow pop ups

In windows, put the cursor on a Word file in a folder and something like this pops up:

Type: Microsoftword Document
Author:Please Enter Your Name Here
Title
Size 100.0 KB

I didn't ask for such useless information, but Bill Gates and his minions think I need to know.

Is there anyway to turn this stuff off?

Those would be tooltips.

So far, the only way I've found to get rid of them is a registry hack--or downloading some program that basically does the exact same thing for you
