How do I use COUNTIF to count cells w/text?

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
=SUMPRODUCT(--(ISTEXT(H2:H11)))

change range to suit.

HTH

edit: btw, this formula will count a cell as 1, and a cell w/ alpha-numerics as text (1) also.
