How do you change a whole column of prices?

I have listed all of my vinyl records in Excel. There is a column for
ARTIST, TITLE, CONDITION, RELEASE DATE, SERIAL #, etc, etc, including
the PRICE I want to sell it for. I sometimes change my prices: one-third off,
or 50% off for example. Let's say the prices were $10.00, $10.00, $15.00, $20.00, etc, etc. I am having a half-price sale and want the column to
change to $5.00, $5.00, $7.50, $10.00, etc, etc. How do I do that to the
whole column at once? (There may be hundreds of prices)

I have been copying the PRICE column to a new unused column (say X),
then using another new column (Y) to show the new price (Y= 1/2 X) for
example. I then copy and paste the Y column into the PRICE column.
Then I delete the X and Y columns! There has to be an easier way to
do this using only the PRICE column, right?

I'm using Excel 2000.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Hello Bob, welcome to the board.
Assume your column of prices is formatted as currency.
Enter 0.5 in a cell somewhere (say A1) and format that as currencey also.
Copy A1 and highlight your entire range of prices.
Use PasteSpecial and choose Multiply.
All of your prices should now read 50% of original.

Hope it helps.

I would strongly recommend that you don't mess around with the Price column. Instead redesignate it as 'Original Price' or 'Base Price' or 'List Price' or some such. Now, add a new column 'Current Price' or some such. In this column, add a formula that reflects the current discount.
