I am try to create a column with a sequence of numbers starting from 1,2,3....... till I specify.

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
One way. Type 1 in the first cell, 2 in the second, then highlight both cells and drag all the way down as far as you like. Excel will pick up on the sequence and fill in all the cells.
