How do you select a color for borders?

I'm using borders around certain cells and I want the lines (the acutual border) to be in color. When I try to do this I don't get the color even though I've selected it by going to format cells, border and color.
Is this just an option that won't work?

Try selecting the colour, THEN setting the border.

Hello,

If you have defined the boreders already in one colour, then to change the colour, you have to select the colour and then redefine the borders.

i.e. If a cell has a black outer border, you will need to go tho this cell, select format borders, change the colour to the new one, and then you will have to select outside again.

Selecting the border color is done through Format>Cells>Border like you did. Make sure that you have selected the color in the color drop down and then select the line style you want and then select the borders that you want in the left side of the dialog. You should see a preview in that box.
