I am using Excel to plot a bar chart that has different patterns for each bar in both color and shape. For applying different shapes, I am using different patterns for each bar. But, patterns are so dense and the pattern lines are covering each other such that the shape of the bars look the same and filled by a solid color. I used to use Rstudio and it gave nicely thick and well-spaced patterns for a bar. I see Matlab also can do so. Is there any way I can get a less dense pattern for bars?

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
You can always make your own pattern with the shapes. Then copy and paste it as fill effect, from 'Clipboard'.

A bit cumbersome and some patterns needs tweaking with the adjustment of offsets.

The pattern selector looks like this:

There are several patterns available, and they are pretty distinct. I really don't like using pattern fills, but when I apply the three upward slant patterns in this chart, they are distinct.

Your images don't seem to show Excel chart fills, so I'm not sure what you're not liking.
