Hello!

Hoping an excel whiz will be able to help me.

I have a spreadsheet with multiple tabs which has line items of company names (the names are often repeated). I need to create a column to group these companies i.e. any line items with the company JPMC mentioned automatically populate the new column as 'group 1', any lines with the company name IBM populate as 'group 2' and with the name Apple populate the new column as 'group 3'. I've added an image as an example to put into context what I'm after.

This is a very simplified version of the doc I'm working on. The column that has the company name is often followed by other text and information so I need a formula that specifically isolates the company name.

I'm hoping there's some formula or macros that can be used so it either automatically populates down the column/across tabs or can be dragged down to populate easily.

Not sure if this is possible but any help with be appreciated. I've tried using the IF and TRUE formula but it only seems to work on one cell. I can drag it or copy it.

Thank you!
