How to avoid #N/A

Could somebody help me avoid #N/A error when using vlookup.

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
You didn't provide a formula, so I'll use the following as an example:

=VLOOKUP(B1,F:G,2,0)

The trick is to see if the value exists in your lookup table first:
=IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH(B1,F:F,0)),VLOOKUP(B1,F:G,2,0),"")

Or if you have excel 07

=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(B1,F:G,2,0),"")

(Used HOTPEPPER's example for you to compare)
