How to bypass the data validation character limit

Hello everyone I am struggling with a data validation question... I am trying to prepopulate the selections for my clients(multiple branches) based on info I already have for each branch...

I have 16 branches... so my data validation based on Cell $A$2 will bring about a preset list I have on another sheet called Data, for which I defined each range of data a name(I used the branches abbreviation).

For example

=IF($A$2="JIY",JIY,IF($A$2,"LEM",LEM,KIO))

In this situation if Cell A2 is = to branch JIY then it will display the list I have pre established on my Data sheet as JIY
Same goes for LEM

The problem as I mention is once I reach what I have below I cannot put anymore

=IF($A$2="JIY",JIY,IF($A$2="LEM",LEM,IF($A$2="KIO",KIO,IF($A$2="FRE",FRE,IF($A$2="AWE",AWE,IF($A$2="LPO",LPO,IF($A$2="PIK",PIK,IF($A$2="FRG",FRG,IF($A$2="CFV",CFV,IF($A$2="MJK",MJK,IF($A$2="SED",SED,DEC)))))))))))

Is there another formula or a method with VBA to allow me to enter more?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
I referenced the criteria at A2 to a new cell with just one letter K3...

And made all my list name definitions one letter. And it solved my problem, however, it was a manual long fix. Still wondering if there is a better means?
