Is it possible to create a pivot table from filtered data? I have for instance a table that I have applied Data-Auto Filter to then filtered on a category. Can I create a PT using only visible (ie "filtered") data?
Looks like XL ignores the filters and creates the pivot table out of all data. I was hoping to cut out a step by not having to put the data on another worksheet, but it looks like that is the only way to work with filtered data.
You wouldn't normally need to filter outside the Pivot table because anything like that can be done within the Pivot table itself by simply excluding certain elements.
Yes, for example, just use a Page field to display the items that you want (or uncheck the ones that you don't want), or if you have them as row or column fields, you can double click them, to hide specific items as well.
