How To? Disable a Private Sub Macro?

Worksheet_Change is a private sub, when the trigger is tripped, it runs.

I need to temporarily turn it off while I run another macro. How do I do this?

I've tried ActiveSheet.Worksheet_Change.Disable but it just laughs at me......
