How to expand a cell with a formula

Hi, I'm am using Excel 2010.

So, normally if you have a text cell with more information that is shown in the cell you can double-click the cell to expand it and see all of the text.

My issue is that I have a cell with a VLOOKUP that returns a long string of text. However, because the cell has a formula in it, double-clicking just shows the formula and does not expand the cell to see all of the returned text. Is there a way to expand the VLOOKUP cell to expand and show all of the returned text and not the formula? I tried formatting it as a Text cell, but that just deleted the VLOOKUP formula and kept the most recent text in the cell.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Hi,

Three options could be:

1. Expand the column width.
2. Copy the cell and Paste Special -> Values.
3. Add word wrap by pressing: Ctrl&1 -> Alignment -> Wrap Text.

Thanks for the help. I guess it can't do exactly what I wanted, so I wound up going with a modified version of options 1 and 3. I inserted more rows, merged those with the cell holding the VLOOKUP data, and then grouped those rows so I can toggle to the extra information.

Thanks again
