I think you are going to have to show us a example of what is in the cell(s) and what you want it (them) to look like afterwards.

For example, = sum(A12+12)...I want to find and replace the 2nd "12" with a number. Easy peezy.

Why not make the second number a cell reference ....
So if you put the number in say cell B12 and change the formula to

=A12 + B12

you can then change the number to anything without changing the formula
