I have a spreadsheet that is taking forever to calc, even after I turn on manual calculations. To define forever, I have written this post in the time it took to process changing a number. It does use a VLOOKUP, which I realize can be a hog, but the cell I'm inputting doesn't impact the vlookup. I'm about to rebuild the thing, but would rather not. Any idea how to find the culprit?

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
Re: How to find processing slug (Speed Up Spreadsheet)

Dear phillaube,

A couple of weeks ago FastExcel posted this link to a white paper about how to speed up spreadsheets:

Take a look at my white paper on Optimizing Excel Calculation speed
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa730921.aspx
(although it talks about Excel 2007 most of the article is relevant to all Excel versions)
and at my Excel pages
http://www.decisionmodels.com/

This white paper so inspired me by all of the amazing tricks, that I made a video series that shows some of the tricks that I learn from this white paper. Reading the white paper has all the details. But if you want to see a few tricks from that white paper, check this link out to the list of videos that I made:
