i have two columns in excel that have varying numbers and blanks.
kinda like this, below,
A B
1 2 1
2 5 7
3 4
4 8
5 1 3
---------------
= 16 =15

Column A equals 16, and Column B equals 15.
I need something that can figure out the total of Column A and B to equal 100%, and show me what the total percent is for each column separately of A and B.
Sorry, i really don't know how else to ask this,
but thanks in advance for looking

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
because of my ignorance, i don't know how to ask this the right way, but will try again.
Column A has a bunch of random numbers, and some blank cells. Same with Column B.
What ever the total of both column A and Column B is, is going to be 100%.
I need to know what percentage Column A is from that 100%.
Column B would be the remainder of percentage that is left over.
as in, if Column A total ends up being 49, and Column B ends up being 51, which equals 100.. then i would know Column A is 49% and B is 51%.
i just don't know how to write a formula to get the math to work for me.
the total of Column A could end up being 561 or so... same with B. it would vary.
Sorry for being hard to understand.

I just realized that i need one more thing right now, the formula you gave works perfectly by the way !
Currently, it looks like this: =SUM(A3:A11)/SUM(A3:B11) and i have it in a cell below A11.

What i need, is to get a percentage of Three pairs of Columns. Can 2 Columns be added together? If so, i need the total sum for columns A3:A11 and B3:B11.
I need a formula for that. I can possibly figure out how to change it to work for D and E, and G and H as well.
The totals of all 6 columns will end up being a grand total of 100%.
What percent is Columns A3:A11 and B3:B11 added together, from that grand total?
What percent of Columns D3:D11 and E3:E11 added together, from that grand total?
What percent is Columns A3:A11 and B3:B11 added together, from that grand total?
