How to get text data using If functions

Here's my problem. I have a list of account codes and the names of people charging those account codes. I want to be able to write a formula where I can have Excel look in Column A for the account code and then give me the Column B name. I tried a Vlookup, but that just keeps picking up the same name over and over.

Welcome to the board...

Make sure you're using FALSE as the 4th argument in the VLOOKUP.
=vlookup(value,array,colref,FALSE)

False makes it look for EXACT match, otherwise it finds CLOSEST match, which can be misleading or inaccurate.

OK, now I see it.. You have dups in column A...

Try searching the board for VlookupNTH. There are some threads about this..
