There is probably an easy solution to this but....

I have a worksheet that acts as a summary of files that I would like to link to. The files are in PDF format and presently stored in the same folder as my directory.

I can hyperlink to the files on my own computer, but when distributed to others, the path is no longer common to their computer. Storing on the company server is O.K., but no good for others outside the organization.

My ideal solution would be to have the path defined as simply the parent folder (which is what would be sent out) and not the complete path from the drive.

I have looked at bringing the PDF files in a different sheets within the same workbook, but I have 100 files at present and is ever expanding. I am concerned with workbook size.

Thanks in advance.

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
From MSDN:

In a Microsoft Excel workbook, unspecified paths to hyperlink destination files are by default relative to the location of the active workbook.

Isn't that the case for you?

Yes Andrew it is (or is at least what I am looking for). In the "insert Hyperlink" menu...everything appears okay. However, in the worksheet, when I scroll over the link with my mouse, the entire path from the root directory appears. When somebody else recieves this, their path is usually different (hence it won't work).

In the box that says "look in", I have the folder name...nothing else. It won't let me leave it blank or unspecified.

I know there is just some stupid little thing I'm missing here.
