So I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to identify a problem at work. I have been challenged to identify customers within my large dataset that have switched to another seller.
A small example of the data I have provided is here: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet
Let's assume I'm an analyst for Pizza Hut and I want to find out if customers are switching from Pizza Hut to other competitors, not if they're decreasing purchases from Pizza Hut necessarily. I want to be able to identify what item they are switching to as well if they swapped to Papa John's for example.
What is the best way to visualize this and/or dissect it into digestable information?
I tried identifying duplicates through conditional formatting and COUNTIFS(Column,Cell)>A1 that show up for customers to see if I could identify who was switching (because they would have a LY # too). Unfortunately, that counts other items they purchased that may not have been switched. If the data was smaller, it wouldn't be a big deal as I would just piece meal it manually. However, the rows in my dataset are at least 400,000 rows and I need to be able to identify overall information, item/customer/seller, etc.
The purpose of a report like this is useful for seeing brand switching or cannibalization. Are customers just not buying as much pizza as last year or are we losing share to another competitor? If so, who and what items? Any tips on this would be greatly appreciated.
