Any of you know to identify whether the value of a cell was copied or typed ?
For example the value displayed in cell A1 is "Rc100". I would like to know whether this value is copied from somewhere within the excel sheet or this was typed by user manually.

Please help.

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Why does it matter? You should explain what you want to do. There may be other methods to accomplish your goals.

How about checking the Application.CutCopyMode value in the Worksheet change event ? If it returns 1 it means that the value was copied, typed otherwise .. You can store that value in a variable or in a permanent place like a hidden cell, defined name or somewhere else for later retrieval.

Yes - Also, I have just tried cutting and pasting (instead of copying) and does'nt seem to work either ... Mouse dragging cell contents would be another problem .

Maybe if one could somehow detect when the typing occurs then it would be more reliable.

Thanks.
