Greetings,

I have have created an excel worksheet that I use as a Daily Planner. I have used borders and shading to create the desired look.

I have two questions:

1) When cleaning up items in the list, I like to do a cut and paste to remove cells of completed items thereby "managing the list". Unfortunately, some of the borders get cut as well resulting in "messing up" my nice ruled grid. Is there a way to lock the worksheet so that I don't lose the grids when I do a "cut".

2) Secondly, assuming there is a way to lock the grid, is there a way that I can sill apply a fill pattern to a cell. I like to do that to highlight high priority items in my "to do" list.

In summary, I would like to lock the cell borders on my worksheet while allowing fill color/pattern.

I have tried the protect worksheet and see options for Format but haven't been able to get it to work.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Jon

Excel Facts

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
without seeing your layout it is difficult to answer the first, but for the second why not setup a conditional format to highlight high priority items by perhaps putting a column that you mark if it is. Post back if you are unsure of using conditional formats.
