How to lock the TABLE from which I had made the drop down list in excel 2007

Respected Sir/Madam.

I am a basic user. I had made a searchable dropdown list by formula (List, Vlookup, Search & etc.) in the same worksheet. I want to lock the table, from which the dropdown list had created, as nobody can change the DATA on that table. If I protect the sheet by password, then the dropdown list does not work. If l allows to edit the cells of the TABLE then it works, but protection disabled of the TABLE. I also checked that if the table in the another sheet of the same workbook, then also it happens. Please help me to solve the problem.
 

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Sort by date Sort by votes
When you are protecting the sheet with a password tick the options for "Use Autofilter" & "Use PivotTable & PivotChart" which will allow the use of filter in PT
