How to open Excel & Word from an access database

Hi, I'm using Access 2007 - I have a Main menu and I want to have is a series of buttons that when clicked will open Excel, another button will open word etc. Is there a simple and straightforward way of doing this?

For now I don't want to open any specific documents, just open a blank document for each office suite application.
